I'm not a big fan of slow playing. Unless I have the nuts after the flop and I can feel confident that there is almost no way it can be beat, then maybe. I would never slow play AA, or KK. I use to do that, its a tough gamble. Sometimes its better taking the small pot then going to the river and getting outdrawn.

Exactly what situation are you talking about? Slow-playing AA before the flop, or slow-playing after you flopped a straight flush? |

You should only slowplay, if you have the ability to release your hand, if you think your opponont caught up to you. If you cant let your pocket AA go no matter what hits the flop or turn then dont slowplay them.

i wouldnt necessarily say slowplaying is for advanced players only. I remember slow playing my Aces over Kings against my dad in 5 card draw when i was like 10. After playing poker for a while you just start to realize that if you bet big with a good hand you normally wont get as much as if you didnt

Yeah, I like to slow play a good hand - I will raise but only minimum to keep people thinking I'm not confident with my hand, perhaps chasing a flush? I will then look at betting big at the river. I use this mainly with hands such as flushes, two pairs, full house etc, where I will hopefully have a sure hand before the turn allowing me to extract as much as I can from the table before going in for the kill.
